A petition to oust Wowowee host Willie Revillame in his game show is circulating the web, and as of this writing, contains 30825 signatures. It all started with his outburst over the insertion of a live coverage of the late President Cory Aquino’s funeral entourage in his game show “Wowowee.”
Here’s the Petition
I am an avid viewer of ABS CBN and I am very well up-to-date regarding their shows. Without any doubt, I am a Kapamilya. However, last August 03, 2009, an incident happened when Wowowee Host Willie Revillame blurted out comments when a video of Pres. Cory’s cortege appeared on the screen.
While a contestant was dancing for the talent portion, a snippet of Pres. Cory Aquino’s cortege was shown on the screen. But Willie did not cut short the dancing portion. Instead, he let the contestant finish her routine. After that, he blurted out comments regarding the video of Pre. Cory’s cortege. He said:
“Kung ganyan, pakita na lang natin ‘yan. Kasi nagsasaya kami dito, tapos… Masakit sa akin ‘yan, e. Nagsasalita ako dito… ‘yan, please. Sana maintindihan n’yo. Nagsasaya kami dito, papakita n’yo sa amin yun ang… di ba? Hindi tama, e. Okey? Hindi ba?”
“Pangit! Hindi ho maganda sa atin. Nagsasalita, ipinapakita yung kabaong ni Tita Cory, hindi ba? Papano kami makapagsasaya, nahihirapan kami? I’m sorry ho, ha. Pero ako, totoo ako, e. ‘Wag n’yo akong pagagalitan, kasi totoo ang gusto kong malaman…
“Pagkatapos ng show, ipakita n’yo ang gusto n’yong palabas. Kasi itong Wowowee, gusto ko… Hindi ba, at alam din ni Tita Cory ‘yan dahil napasaya rin siya ng show na ito na laging masaya dito, ok?”
Some may argue that Willie’s intention was good, but I rather find these statements rude and arrogant. Wowowee and Revillame is known by millions of Filipino viewers and the show is even watched across several countries through TFC. To react in such way is downright arrogant and disrespectful to the former President Corazon Aquino. I know that it was a bad taste for ABS-CBN to show a snippet of the funeral on Wowowee, but it was worst for Revillame to react that way.
Willie have chosen to let the contestant dance instead of cutting short her act and give way to the coverage of the cortege. Willie have chosen to blurt out his rude comments ON-AIR instead of Off-cam. In short, Willie have chosen to have fun instead of giving way to the funeral of Pres. Corazon Aquino. So they’d rather have fun instead of pay our respects to our democracy icon? That was not a good example to our youth today.
Was it really hard for him to be humble and human? I believe that this is not the first time that he aired his views and rather arrogant comments On-air. He embarasses his staff, makes fun of the contestants, and arrogantly act on TV almost everyday. Pres. Aquino taught us humility, and Revillame is showing us the exact opposite: arrogance.
This time, Willie’s statement should be condemed not only by the public, but by the management of ABS-CBN as well. It also creates a public outrage in the internet forums, chatting boards, and online-newspapers. Majority have negative reactions and have condemned Willie Revillame’s brutal statements.
With this, I am calling the attention of the management of ABS-CBN to stop the “arrogant act” of Willie Revillame on National TV program and reprimand him because of his actions. Willie Revillame had been very disrespectful to the Pres. Cory Aquino’s cortege, Filipinos icon of democracy. It was also worst for your company that your own employee criticize you on national television instead on off the air conversations.
I am calling the attention of the MTRCB to be more vigilant, so that this lowest form of personal attack by a tv showbiz talk show host, for her/his personal agenda, will not happen again
I am calling the PANA to stop supporting Wowowee until they axe or reprimand Willie Revillame due to his actions. With him as one of the hosts, your product does not project a positive image to the public.
The public and TFC subscribers deserve better programming, and we deserve better than the likes of Willie Revillame.

ABS CBN Management should tolerate his behavior, being rude & arrogant. He’s been so harsh towards his staff, everytime they made a mistake he’s blowing it up ON THE AIR, which is not good. Without the staff, he’s nothing but a drummer boy who wished to become a HOST and a SINGER? Oh c’mon let us face the truth that he’s been doing this a lot of times in Wowowee.

I fully agree with you Shena Marie. He embarasses his staff right during the show when he could talk to them off air afterwards. He has been spoiled by the success of Wowowee. I believe he should be suspended at least, if not totally ousted.
To whom it may concern or to all the wowowee fans,
I am quite very disappointed in this outpouring of hanging Willie for the wrong that he may have done. Yes sometimes he does come out as being arrogant and chauvanistic and rude to his staff or making fun of people but his true intentions under all that is to make people laugh. People tune in to the show day after day to laugh, and forget about the bad day that they maybe having; and you know what the show works and Willie knows that and if he does become a little arrogant due to that success well bravo for him because it takes a lot to make people laugh rather than cry. And it seems like he was put on this earth to make people laugh. And yes he does and do things that get him in trouble, but so what because didn’t Pres. Aquino fight for those very rights so if he was shot down who is disrespecting whom. About the very incident itself, I totally agree with Willie because it was very disrespectful for ABS CBN Management to show the cortege during the show. And people are we forgetting that Willie is just a worker for the network and it was their decision to air Wowowee and not Wille so by Willie putting a stop to the showing of the cortege or saying that the show itself should be stopped was in total respect to the family and Pres. Aquino. Let’s put ourselves into the families position………would we want our loved one’s funeral to be aired during happy hour?! I THINK NOT!!!!

Willie’s head have become overblown due to his success. Willie should have gave way to the airing of Cory’s funeral as a way of respect to Cory. He treated Cory as an ordinary person. If your mother died would you want other family members to be rejoicing ? Happy hour? are you employed in a beer house joint? Please stop patronizing that idiot willie!!!
see it’s people like you who don’t understand and misinterpret things. first of all it is not Willie’s say so whether to air his show or not it is the station’s choice because he does not own the station to have a say so….so think about that who really wanted to air his show!! and as i said in my original posts i would not want my mother’s funeral to be aired during happy hour and that is what Willie was trying to state when he wanted Pres. Cory’s cortege to stop showing during his show that make people laugh. i truelly believe, though sad to say, it has always been the filipinos’ way of bringing down one another when that person reaches success!! yeah the man is arrogant and insulting but it is those very same people that get insulted who come back and tune into his show that has made him popular!

hello i am not idolizing the man, but he has the right to say and speak his mind! yeah he’s insulting but why do people keep tuning in and coming back to the show! if you find it insulting turn the television off cause that’s what i do when i can’t stand him anymore! and yes i agree with what he did the station should not be showing a funeral during a show like his. the station should have cancelled his show that day and yes he should not have aired his views in public like that but i believe that he wanted it to be effective cause maybe there was politics happening behind the scene!!

We are all human. Willie’s personality is like that (arrogant). I know with what he says on that specific show last 08.14 is an appropriate one but still you have to open your mind that he was just carried away by his emotions.. Everybody deserves to speak their opinion. And my opinion is that “We are all human.”.. As fas as I know, he already asked the staff not to post those video of our late Pres. Cory before airing. That is why he was surprised that he sees the video and he reacted like that. Let’s say wrong choice of words but then since that show is an spontaneuos, he never had a chance to think of what he is going to stay instead he speak to his mind and emotions. Well, to all the people, open your mind and be responsible of what u are saying. Im not a fan of Willie nor Joey de Leon. i think the way willie reacted was taken out of context. He should have said it in a more appropriate way tho’ i think he was really sincere during that moment of his ‘blunder’. Kaya sana Willy as a friendly advice, next be more prudent and careful with your words since not all people can easily understand what some people are trying to say.

Kung likas na matulungin si Willie Revillame, he could have share his blessings sa mga taong mahihirap, pero ano? meron na ba siyang natulungan na charitable institutions? may mga nabigyan na ba siya ng tulong sa mga cancer patients, may na e donate na ba siya sa DSWD?, may napag-aral na ba siya or nagbigay ng scholarship sa mga batang mahihirap? He keeps nagging on them ON-CAM, ano gusto nya palabasin? na sya ang hari-harian sa show? Pare pareho lang silang workers ng ABS CBN, pare pareho lang sila sinasahuran ng mga LOPEZes, eh bat ganun na lamang kung magalit sya sa harap ng mga tao at sa harap ng camera. He should be aware na public figure sya at kung aware sya na marami ang nakakapanood sa kanya, cautious dapat sya sa bawat kilos nya. There are many people believe that negative actions by willie revillamie is already too much. ABS-CBN management must realize that willie is not asset of the company but rather is an anay of the and the country. He is very bastos at mayabang, walang respeto sa kapwa lalo na sa mga kasama sa show. Dapat na siyang palitan sa show otherwise many TFC subscribers especially in Saudi Arabia maglilipatan sa GMA 7.
Mahal po namin ang ABS-CBS pero kung mananatili si Willie hindi magdadalawang isp na lumipat sa 7. We hope that willie will never come back in the show.

I’m a new subscriber of TFC here in California and sometimes I would watch but not really crazy about it. The show is too long and kind of corny making fun of poor people, being insulted and laughed at. I think it’s because of this that the show’s rating is high. I never knew how President Cory Aquino ruled our country since it’s been 30 years i’ve been gone from our country. I heard a lot of good things about her in the U.S. and all parts of the world. Now, seeing Willie ignoring the burial and just getting pissed with the footage of the funeral is just heartbreaking. ABS CBN also has the power to cut him off the air but it continued to show his disgust. So I also blame the station for airing Wowowee in time of a historical event. Whether it is right to oust him depends on the outcome of the ratings after he’s gone. I just wish everybody the best in Wowowee show because it’s just tragic to just have a show like this to fade away. Anyway, I’m only after the teleserye and the gossip news.
