Filipino director Brillante Mendoza wins the best director award for the movie “Kinatay” in the recent Cannes Film Festival 2009.
The movie “Kinatay” is about a training policeman joining friends to earn some quick cash but later changed his mind as events turn bad. Brillante Mendoza ousted known directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Ang Lee.
“This is not just entertainment, these kinds of stories are real,” Mendoza said at Cannes.
